Children enjoying ritual role playing under the vigilant eyes of their teachers.

Five days a week, from eight in the morning till 5 in the afternoon, the Wixárika children are being looked after by the educational staff of the Center. During the day emphasis is put on immersion in the culture of the Wixárika people by audio-visual means, story telling, drawing, acting and language classes. Once the children reach the age to go to school, they can follow courses in their native tongue and will be much better prepared to integrate into the dominant Mexican culture.

After a scroll through the nearby countryside the kids walk back to school at the end of the day.
