Nomination process

Who can nominate candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize?
-   Members of national parliaments, the European parliament and governments
-   Members of international courts of justice
-   University rectors; professors of social sciences, history, philosophy, law and theology
-   Directors of peace research institutes and foreign policy institutes.


Letters of nomination
As the Drugs Peace Institute organizes a joint nomination, people qualified (see above) are invited to forward their letter of nomination directly to our Institute which will collect the individual nominations. The joint nomination will then be presented by the Drugs Peace Institute to the Oslo Nobel Committee on January 31, 2019.


The letter of nomination should include:
-   The names of the representatives of the candidates:
                -   Ms. Susana Eger Valadez (director of the Huichol Center for Cultural Survival)
                -   Felipe Borrallo (former president of ARSEC)
                -   Jaime Prats (former botanist of ARSEC)
                -   Josep Baltierrez I Alier (former secretary of ARSEC)
-   The arguments for the candidates the nominator wishes to nominate
-   The name and title of the nominator testifying of the qualification to nominate.

The presenting of the nomination letter:
-   The nominators are asked to send their letter of nomination of the candidates by email to
nobel@drugspeaceinstitute.org before January 31st, 2019, closing date for the campaign.
-   The nomination can be written directly into the body of the email or attached in a text document; email and/or text document should attest to the nominating capacity of the nominator (eg. Letterhead).
-   On January 31st, 2019, the Drugs Peace Institute will present the combined candidacy to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, with a covering letter from an internationally respected anti-prohibitionist. The nomination presentation will include the individual letters of nomination of all the nominators.
